  • Cost Estimator / Quoting

    XL Tool Inc. is currently seeking an experienced professional Cost Estimator to join our growing team.

    XL Tool Inc. is a ISO 9001:2015 certified Tool & Die, and Custom Machining business supplying the Automotive, Nuclear, and Power generation industry.

    The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:

    • Solid knowledge of the machine ability of various raw materials such as steel, aluminum, brass, stainless steel,etc.
    • Knowledge of outside processes such as heat treating & plating would be an asset.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings & specifications.
    • Must be proficient in GD&T.
    • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office software (ie: Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
    • Excellent skills in utilizing CAD software, especially KeyCreator & Mastercam.
    • Excellent critical thinker with problem solving ability.
    • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
    • Ability to function both independently and in a team environment.

    Your contributions to the team include:

    • Review 2D part drawings, 3D part data & technical documents in order to prepare machining estimates.
    • Ability to determine a machining process sequence per customer information & requirements provided in the RFQ.
    • Compile / enter details into cost estimating spreadsheet to determine part cost to be used in quotation.
    • Ability to provide customer a detailed piece price cost breakdown, if required.
    • Work effectively with Sales & Engineering teams.
    • Collaborate with Customers as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    What you’ll need to be successful:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience programming CNC Lathes & Mills.
    • Minimum 3 years of CNC cost estimating experience
    • CNC machine shop supervisory experience would be an asset.

    MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE:

    • Machinist trade certificate or 5 – 10 years experience as a CUSTOM Machinist / Toolmaker
    • Knowledge CAD Software
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings & specifications.
    • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office software (ie: Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
    • Excellent critical thinker with problem solving ability.
    • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
    • Ability to function both independently and in a team environment.
